The Parc des Buttes Chaumont is in the 19th arrondissement of Paris. I never knew this existed until I first started looking for apartments in Paris. From the maps I looked at I could tell it was decent-sized, but I didn't realize just how big it really is. And it's gorgeous. I'm so glad my friend Agenor suggested we go there.
We hiked up and down the different hills, making fun little discoveries left and right.
My friend Agenor enjoying the waterfall.
Didn't expect stellagtites...
A nice view of Sacre Coeur from the little pavillion on the hill...
Being in the Parc was a nice little escape from the city. It's so nice to find places that allow you to escape from the frenetic hustle and bustle of the city, but still get home in time to do laundry, work, and get a normal night's sleep. (Ames and I did this several times--and some of them actually were out of the city, but just a short and painless train ride away.)
These pictures don't do justice to the beauty of the park. I didn't take as many pictures showing just how lush and green it is-- down in the valleys of these tall hills you can lose sight of the city skyline completely and feel like you're in a little oasis. You can't even hear the city, which to me is it's own little miracle. :)
