Vegetarian

So, some of you know that I'm trying to be mostly vegetarian. I allow myself to eat meat 3-4 times a week.
That sort of slipped through the cracks over the past couple of weeks as I was doing my final prep, traveling, and getting settled in here.

But I'm getting back on track now and tonight I enjoyed a "vegetarian steak" as it's marketed here. It's basically a veggie burger. This one was Indian style--it came with some kind of sauce (curry or something like it) to put over the top after browning it in a frying pan. It was pretty good, but crumbly, as veggie patties are.

I also had some fresh green beans and a turnip sliced up and dipped in hummus. It was really good. Thanks to Katharina for teaching me that turnips, unlike beets, are actually worth eating.

I'm so glad you're posting so much about your Parisian adventures. I'm jealous you get to have this experience...although I'm too much of a wuss to do anything like it myself. I'm certainly enjoying living vicariously through you!

Hey! I love beets!

If you're looking for another meatless meal, try L'As du Falafel (I think that's how you spell it) in the Marais.

And I won't tell you about my favorite Cosi sandwich with roast beef and caramelized onions...

Michelle, THANK YOU for the suggestion. I am definitely going to try that out.

My wife makes what amounts to veggie burgers with tofu, green onions, bread crumbs, and some other things that I am not remembering. She uses some meat, but very little. She gets them to be less crumbly by using and egg in the mix. If you want to try some of your own let me know and I can get you the recipe. She just pan fries them... They seem really easy to make ('course, everything she makes looks easy to make...) and they are super tasty...
